"If everyone in the world told their story; then we would have the truth."
Hollows are small valleys, often no larger than a quarter acre. Cut off from larger cultural spaces, they are easy havens. Hiding places from the mayhem. They are the romantic spaces of the mountains that inspire people to fall in love with Appalachia.
There is another type of hollow. The adjective. When something is hollow it is empty. This is the hollow mining brings. It is also the hollow judgement brings. Lifting many, driving others deeper. And trading one type of value for another.
This is the travelogue of a journey to collect stories about both. Seeking out tales of and in both. A journey with the goal to listen more than talk.
I'm a little bit country & a little bit rock and roll.
I cross the street to walk in the sun.
I spend vast amounts of time on "projects".
I love breakfasts, long lazy breakfasts out at diners.
I have ended relationships because there was not a mutual affection for breakfasts.
Mostly, just trying to listen.
